September highlights at "New Generation Airships'"
1 października 2025
September was a month of intensive work on the AEROLЁT-01 vehicle and the completion of the NOVA-01 test cycle. The 'New Generation Airships' project is attracting the attention of an increasing number of partners, and the results confirm that we are moving in the right direction.
1. NOVA-01
• The first test cycle has been completed.
• The key modes have been exercised: manual control, autopilot, remote control, and weathervaning at a low mooring point.
• Data have been collected for the NOVA-2 dynamic model.
• During testing, an incident occurred: the envelope and gondola were damaged, while all control systems and electronics remained intact.
• The envelope was repaired in just 1.5 days; next comes gondola assembly and continued testing.
2. AEROLЁT-01
• Active assembly of the new prototype has begun.
• Key design features:
- four independent propulsion engines, improving maneuverability;
- a steering thruster in the nose gondola;
- a new empennage configuration.
• During envelope acceptance, 15 leaks were identified and remedied the next day — the envelope is fully airtight.
• Owing to the complex shape, the actual envelope deviates from the theoretical one more than usual, so external fittings are being fabricated in situ.
• By the end of the month, all primary structures were ready; next in line is the installation of control systems, electrical systems, and actuation units.
3. Media and attention to the project
• The Rossiya 1 TV channel aired a story about the revival of airships.
• AERONOVA showcased its developments and emphasized the prospects for employing airships in today’s operating environment.
4. External relations and interest in the project
• A meeting was held at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the President of the Russian Federation.
• The meeting addressed practical objectives:
- the use of airships for carrying freight and passengers in Siberia and the Far North;
- building the infrastructure required to operate the vehicles in harsh climatic conditions;
- options for rapid monitoring and communications over vast territories.
• After the meeting, the delegation of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the President of the Russian Federation visited the airfield, saw the equipment first-hand, and noted the project’s high level of maturity.
Result: interest in our field is evident; partners are closely following the company’s progress, awaiting further results, and are ready to consider concrete forms of cooperation.
