The Sovelmash team is completing preparations to release the first batch of Angle grinders and is moving to the next stage — mass production and sales.

First batch of angle grinders

There is no equivalent to this machine on the market. There are brushless models with BLDC motors, and there are angle grinders with an external power source at a very high price. The appearance of such a machine on the market is a historic event. The expected sales launch date is mid to late May.

Technological breakthrough and material savings

The angle grinder’s rotor is made from steel typically used at 60–100 Hz. In Sovelmash’s implementation, it runs at 600 Hz, which enables a 4 kW motor in a compact form factor. A conventional motor of this power would require eight times more material.

Test equipment

A climatic chamber was commissioned for angle grinder testing. For example, power cords were tested at temperatures below −40°C. On the vibration test bench, the products will undergo the most rigorous trials.

APC and harmonic gearbox

Work on the harmonic gearbox is connected, among other things, with the APC project. The new solution makes the motor 6–8 times smaller, which creates more space in the vehicle’s interior.

Sales and scale

Sales are crucial right now. The higher they are, the more we can automate the process, invest, and lower production costs further. And if production is cheaper, profit margins are higher.

Engineers and designers need the opportunity to realize their potential — and they will achieve things Japan and China could only dream of. Sovelmash’s mission is not only to develop and manufacture products, but also to train young professionals.

Sovelmash services

The technology has been developed, and the documentation is in place. When a customer requests to set up production, Sovelmash will deliver: install the line, supply and integrate the equipment, and create the tooling. Such production can be deployed in any country.

Dividends

Following the reorganization into a joint-stock company and upon approval of the annual results, dividend payments will commence subject to achieving solid profit. It is premature to comment: we are profitable and have incurred no losses, but there is nothing to distribute yet.
